College
The College of Engineering, incorporating the former Osaka Technical College and the Osaka Prefectural College of Industrial Chemistry, was established in 1949. At that time, it consisted of 6 departments : Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering, Naval Architecture and Industrial Engineering. By 1973, it expanded to lO departments. Since 1993, the College has been reorganized into 13 departments to meet the demands of the times in research development, rapid technical innovations and the diversification of the industrial structure.
The aims of each department are
1) the development of individual growth and creativity among the staff members and students,
2) recognizing and initiating research on the essential needs of society, and
3) cultivating flexible and insightful approaches to cope with changing trends.

Graduate
The Graduate School Division of Engineering was established to carry out extensive research and education in scientific theories and applications, based on both the general and specialized undergraduate programs in engineering.
This Division offers a 5-year doctorate program, divided into two study periods : the former period, Master Course, is of 2 years and the latter period, Doctor Course, is of 3 years. In the Division, 13 majors are available for students of each period.
In order to cultivate students' abilities, various kinds of lectures, laboratory works, and experimental studies are provided. Being assigned to a supervisor in the division, each student is able to receive individual guidance in his / her research area.
